Welcoming Dan Dearing as EVP Vice President
EVP is excited to announce our greatest addition to the EVP family yet. As of September 2024, Dan Dearing will be coming on as the new Vice President of our club concluding the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic games. As one of the faces of Canadian volleyball, it is evident that Dan will help pave the way for youth sports under our growing community.
With Dan joining the EVP family, we believe it is important for everyone to know who he is and what he has accomplished. Within the volleyball community, Dan has demonstrated himself to be a leader in many ways. Years back, Dan started a small fundraiser selling T-shirts and merchandise to help youth players afford club volleyball. Within a short period of time, this fundraiser turned into the “Believe Initiative” that included mentoring and coaching free of charge. Dan began raising funds and awareness for his cause in the Rexdale/Etobicoke community leading multiple athletes to post-secondary scholarships. One of these student athletes received a full ride scholarship to Harvard University, becoming the first student from his school to attend Harvard.
As a coach, Dan has 18 years of experience. Dan began coaching at a young age during his 15u club year proving his love for the game extended from simply playing. Some of the first clubs Dan coached for included Toronto West and Pakmen. Within a short period of time, Dan was in charge of managing more than 20 staff and over 100 athletes per weekly camp. Since then, Dan has continued to coach for a multitude of different clubs spreading his knowledge, passion, and love for the game.
As an international talent, Dan has proved himself to be an amazing player. At only 33 years of age, Dan has competed in a multitude of major sports events around the world. These accomplishments include 2 World Championships, 1 Pan Am Games, and 1 Commonwealth Games where he captured a Silver Medal. On top of these accomplishments, Dan is also a four-time National Champion with 6 International Medals over 8 years representing Team Canada. As of recently, Dan has been on the path to competing in the 2024 Olympic games. Our team at EVP is fully supportive of this milestone goal and cannot wait to see what his future holds.
Here is a message from our President & future Vice President:
“As Club President, I could not be happier with our choice to bring Dan in as VP. I have known Dan for 15 years and have always considered him a friend and one of the most compassionate and talented people I have ever met. Together, me and Dan have big plans to expand and grow EVP in every way. Dan will be a huge asset to our high performance and competitive programs allowing us to offer programs and clinics that we have never been able to offer designed and run by Canada’s best. The relationship me and Dan have had over the last 15 years will only serve to increase the effect he has on the club as he is very familiar with the culture of the club and the EVP family. We are so excited to see Dan join the family and will have lots of new programs and announcements coming in 2023-2025.” – Matt Green, Club President.
“I am very excited to start this next chapter of my life with EVP. I have a strong passion for coaching and having known EVP from its roots for 15 years, ignites my passion even more. Heading into this role as Vice President, I will continue to grow this sport and all the athletes affiliated with this amazing club.” – Dan Dearing, future Vice President of EVP.
Over the next 12 months, Dan will be doing a variety of roles here at EVP. Dan will be helping coach multiple rep teams and programs during his time off from his own personal training. He will also be doing a variety of organizational roles to start better understanding the business as well as ease into his role as our future Vice President.
Our family at EVP could not be more ready to have Dan join us and hope all of you are ready for a game changing experience!
