Rain Cancellations
Leagues play rain or shine. Games will only be cancelled in the event of lightning. If necessary, a cancellation email will be sent within 30 minutes of the posted start time.

Player Requirements
6’s divisions are played with six players on the court, with a minimum of four players required to avoid a default. A minimum of two females and two males must be on the court at all times.
4’s divisions are played with four players on the court, with a minimum of one female and one male on the court at all times.

Match Start Time
If a team does not meet the minimum player requirement within five minutes of the official start time, they will default the first game (25–0). If the minimum requirement is not met within fifteen minutes, the entire match will be defaulted. When possible, teams may reschedule games to allow short-handed teams time to acquire players.

Scoring Format
Matches are time-limited, and games are played to 25 points using rally point scoring. Games must be won by two points, with a 27-point cap. The team that wins the most games within the allotted time is declared the match winner.
If time expires during a game, the team leading at the final whistle wins that game. If the score is tied when time expires, one final rally point will be played to determine the winner.

Player Rotations
In 4’s divisions, players are not required to rotate court positions; however, servers must rotate.
In 6’s divisions, teams must follow standard indoor volleyball rotation. Back-row players may not attack or block from the front court.

Volleying (4’s Divisions Only)
Volleying is intended to set up a teammate for an attack. A second contact may travel over the net only if it is clearly intended as a set to a teammate, and the ball may drift over the net. Intentional volleys sent directly over the net are not permitted.

Blocking
In 4’s divisions, a block touch counts as one contact. If the blocker plays the ball again, it counts as a second touch.
In 6’s divisions, a block touch counts as the first team contact. The blocker may play the ball again, and these two contacts are considered one team touch.

Playing the Ball
The ball may contact any part of the body. Please avoid kicking the ball to prevent injury or sand displacement.

Net Play & Crossing Under the Net
Players may not touch the net during play. Players may cross under the net provided they do not interfere with the opposing team or make contact with the net, and they must return immediately to their own side.

Side Changes
In sunny or windy conditions where one side has an advantage, teams will switch sides every 10 points.

Recording Scores
The scorekeeper or referee is responsible for tracking scores. Both captains must initial the scoresheet for the result to be valid. Scores are recorded by games won and lost, with the winning team circled.

Referees & Disputes
If no referee is present, the scorekeeper may assist with disputed calls. If the dispute cannot be resolved, the point will be replayed. Teams are expected to demonstrate honesty and strong sportsmanship at all times.

League Standings & Playoff Seeding
Teams earn one point for each set win during the regular season. Standings are determined first by total set wins.
If teams are tied, head-to-head record will be used to determine ranking. If a tie remains, total points scored versus total points against will be used. If teams are still tied after these criteria, the Convener will assign playoff seeding by random draw.
All teams qualify for playoffs during the final two weeks of the season. To be eligible for playoffs, a player must have played at least two regular season matches with their team.

Personal Belongings
All personal items must be placed in the patio area to prevent injuries. Children must remain clear of the court area.

Court Etiquette
Safety is a priority. Bikes are not permitted on the courts under any circumstances. Beach chairs and lawn chairs are permitted in the patio area only.
Indoor Volleyball Rules & Regulations
Intermediate 6's
Dedicated setters (commonly a 5–1 system or use of middle sets).
Teams are expected to use three touches on their side of the net, resulting in an attack.
Some attacking and passing inconsistencies may occur compared to the Competitive division.
There is no limit on the number of serves per player.
Competitive 4's
Dedicated positions for all players (setters, middles, left sides, right side).
Teams are expected to use three touches on their side of the net, resulting in a hard-driven attack.
Limited inconsistencies, with strong teamwork and sustained rallies expected.
There is no limit on the number of serves per player.
