Update on EVP Eagles 14U & 15U Boys Rep Teams for the 2026–2027 Season

Dear EVP Families,

I wanted to provide everyone with an update regarding our planned 14U and 15U Boys EVP Eagles Rep teams for the 2026–2027 season.

First and foremost, I want to say how disappointed we are to have to send this email. Our goal was to continue growing our boys program, and we were excited about the opportunity to field both a 14U and a 15U team this season.

Following our summer evaluations, we extended 16 offers across the two age groups. While many families expressed interest in the program, unfortunately we did not receive any accepted offers.

We completely understand that many families wanted to keep their options open until September and attend multiple club tryouts before making a decision. That is a very common approach, and we respect every family’s right to find the best fit for their athlete.

At the same time, we also have a responsibility to ensure we can confidently offer a complete season. Our plan was to have at least half of each roster committed before tryouts so we could move forward knowing the teams were viable. Entering September with no confirmed players would have meant trying to build two complete teams almost entirely from tryouts.

The challenge is that the same group of boys typically attends tryouts at several clubs. Building a roster of 10–12 players under those circumstances becomes highly uncertain. Rather than risk moving forward and potentially having to cancel a team after tryouts—which could leave players scrambling to find another club after most rosters have already been filled—we felt it was more responsible to make this decision now.

Although this is not the outcome we had hoped for, we believe it is the fairest decision for the athletes and their families. It allows everyone the time and opportunity to pursue other club options before the main tryout period begins.

We remain committed to growing boys volleyball at EVP and hope to revisit these age groups in future seasons as interest continues to grow. We truly appreciate everyone who attended our evaluations, clinics, and open gyms, and we thank you for your interest in becoming part of the EVP Eagles family.

We wish all of the athletes the very best this season and hope to see many of you at future EVP programs.

Sincerely,

Matt Green
