Extreme Heat Reminder, Sand Socks, Snack Bar & Tick Prevention at EVP Beach
Dear EVP Beach Families,
With the hot weather expected over the coming days, we wanted to share a few reminders to help keep everyone safe, comfortable, and ready to enjoy their time on the sand.
Beat the Heat with Sand Socks
One of the best ways to make playing in extreme heat more enjoyable is by wearing sand socks. They protect players’ feet from the hot sand, allowing players to focus on the game instead of worrying about burning their feet.
EVP carries Vincere Sand Socks—the original sand sock brand and widely recognized as the top choice by beach volleyball athletes across North America.
Available for purchase at the facility before your program:
- Regular Vincere Sand Socks – $45 + HST
- Elite Vincere Sand Socks – $52 + HST
If you’re planning to attend programs during this hot stretch, sand socks can make a significant difference in both comfort and performance.
Staying Cool & Hydrated
Please help your athlete prepare for the heat by bringing:
- Plenty of water (more than you think they’ll need!)
- A hand towel or small towel
A simple but very effective trick is to pour water on the towel and place it around the neck or over the head during breaks. It helps cool the body quickly and can make a big difference during periods of extreme heat.
Important Water Notice
Please note that the beach facility operates using fresh tank water. While the water that is delivered to the facility is fresh, it is stored in holding tanks. Under public health regulations, water stored in tanks must be tested daily before it can be considered potable (safe for drinking). Because we do not perform daily potable water testing, the water at the facility is not considered safe for drinking.
The water is perfectly suitable for hand washing, rinsing off, and other facility uses, but it should not be used as drinking water.
For this reason, we ask that every athlete arrives with plenty of drinking water. We recommend bringing more than you think you’ll need, especially during periods of extreme heat. If needed, drinking water is always available for purchase at our snack bar.
We will continue to monitor the weather closely and adjust programming if conditions ever become unsafe, but arriving prepared is the best way to ensure everyone has a great experience.
EVP Snack Bar
Need to cool down? Our snack bar will be open throughout programming and is stocked with plenty of cold refreshments and treats!
Available for purchase:
- Cold bottled water
- Gatorade and other cold drinks
- Freezies
- Ice cream bars
- An assortment of candy and snacks
Please note: Our snack bar accepts Cash or E-Transfer only.
If you would like your son or daughter to be able to purchase drinks or snacks during breaks, please remember to send them with cash or arrange for them to pay by e-transfer.
Tick Prevention
As many of you know, ticks have become much more common over the past few summers. To help reduce their presence, EVP has hired a professional company to spray our beach facility.
The courts and surrounding grass areas will be professionally treated this Saturday (July 4) in preparation for our busy July and August programming.
While this treatment helps reduce tick activity, we still recommend that all families perform a quick tick check after spending time outdoors, especially after playing or walking through grassy areas.
Thank you for helping us keep our athletes safe, comfortable, and prepared for another great summer of beach volleyball.
We look forward to seeing everyone on the sand!
